We are very excited to announce that we have invited three team members to the firm’s partnership. Partnership is reserved for leaders – those who embody the firm’s values, care to serve investors impeccably, and who are eager to serve fully. These three internal leaders have proven their ability and their commitment to our investors, to our team, and to a better world.

Patrick Hergt, based in Canada, joins the partnership as Head of Business Development. Over the last ten years, Patrick has served many aspects of our business, most notably as Director in our private equity practise. He will now lead Sarona’s business development efforts, including Investor Relations, Marketing and Fundraising.

Ralitsa Rizvanolli, based in Singapore, joins the partnership as Head of Impact Mandates. Rali has led the management of our Emerging Markets Impact Investment Fund (EMIIF), a trust funded by the Government of Australia and will now be responsible for all our impact mandates.

Mat LeRoux, based in Canada, joins the partnership as Head of Finance and Operations. Over the last nine years, Mat has taken on increasing responsibility for our financial operations, most recently as Financial Controller, responsible for Sarona and all investment mandates.

Serge LeVert-Chiasson, Managing Partner of Sarona, commented: “We are excited by this new chapter at Sarona. Our newly crafted vision of a future where impact investing at scale builds inclusive communities thriving on a healthy Earth will be supported by a dedicated leadership team and our stellar staff. We look forward to creating impact investment strategies for our investors, tailored impact investing solutions for our clients and customized shared services for our partnering emerging fund managers, building up the impact investing ecosystem in Global Emerging Markets as a result.”

Q4 2022 – Sarona Emerging Markets Monitor

The global economic outlook continues to remain challenging, particularly given the effects of higher inflation, as a result of supply side imbalances following covid-19 and subsequently the war in Ukraine. Energy and food prices remain major contributors to this surge with prospects of further rises in interest rates going into next year. With recessionary warning signs flashing, a flight to safety has strengthened the US dollar, with the index (DXY) peaking above 13% before softening to 4.6% YTD. Despite emerging markets facing higher import costs and stronger inflationary pressures as a result, including the prospects of depleted currency reserves, economic growth forecasts remain positive for this year, albeit at more moderated levels.
