Background:
Sarona Asset Management (SAM) creates and manages investment structures. SAM currently manages Sarona Risk Capital Fund (MEDA), Sarona Risk Capital Fund I LP, Sarona Frontier Markets Fund I LP and Direct Investments on behalf of a number of investors. SAM is a bridge between private capital sources in North America/Europe and poor communities in developing countries. SAM has offices in Waterloo, Canada and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Job Description:
The Business Analyst will:
- Assist the investment team with regular pre-investment analysis
- Assist the Controller with quarterly investment monitoring and analysis
- Assist with marketing and investor relations
- Be responsible for the customer relations management system
Detailed list of activities:
- Pre-Investment Analysis
- Responsible for populating and maintaining the deal pipeline log
- Conduct initial screening calls for pipeline opportunities and completing the deal alert memos
- Completing country and sector research reports
- Creating regular reports to management on deal pipeline activity
- Investment Monitoring and Analysis
- Support controller in receiving financial and narrative reports from each investee
- Assist controller in preparing quarterly financial analysis, ratio analysis and trend analysis for the Funds under management
- Other tasks as delegated by the Controller
- Marketing and Investor Relations
- Assist with preparing quarterly investor reports
- Assist in the preparation of marketing brochures, presentations and other communication
- Customer Relations Management ("CRM")
- Responsible for ensuring timely data entry into the CRM system
- Assisting the team in improving CRM data management processes and systems
- Creating regular reports to management on CRM activity
- Other tasks, as assigned from time to time
- Assist the team in completing initial capital raising calls
- Create, prepare and update regular reports to management on capital raising efforts
- Assist staff with event management related to capital raising efforts as well as to current investors (annual meetings, etc.)
Job Qualifications:
- 1-3 years business experience; fully fluent in understanding business financial statements
- Undergraduate studies, preferably in business or economics
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, proactive, reliably detail oriented, customer service oriented
- Excellent command of computer technology and programs (E.G. MS office, Salesforce, etc.)
- Excellent English writing and speaking skills. Other languages may be an asset

Expected Travel: No expected travel
Salary Range: $45,000 to $60,000, depending on skills and experience
